FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
Is Knight a SA-MP plugin?
No. It is a standalone server that speaks the SA-MP protocol. The official client connects to it directly.
Do I need Pawn?
No. Gamemodes are written in Knight (.sa). Pawn .amx files are not supported.
Do I need Go installed?
Not to run Knight. The release binaries are self-contained. Go is only needed if you build the engine yourself.
Where do custom models go?
Anywhere. Pass a path to AddCharModel / AddSimpleModel; a bare file name is looked up in the optional artpath folder.
Can I use MySQL?
Yes. mysql_open, mysql_tquery, mysql_pquery, mysql_format, mysql_errno, mysql_close and the cache_* getters are available, alongside SQLite.
Does it support 0.3.DL?
Yes. Custom skins and objects are sent only to 0.3.DL clients; 0.3.7 clients fall back to base models.
Why is there no self or sa. prefix?
The API is native-first. Callbacks receive playerid, and natives are plain global functions.
